March saw the launch of a new 'Smike' website www.smikethemusical.com
All the songs and some video clips of the show are on the site as well as an updated synopsis with current notes by Simon who first created the musical in 1973. Since then 'Smike' has been performed by thousands of young people in the UK and overseas. March also saw 3 new productions at the Yvonne Arnaud Mill Studio Guildford, The Ripon Cathedral Choir School and St. Martin's Prep School, Northwood.

On Friday 19th February EastEnders celebrated its first 25 years with a first ever live episode, the culmination of a week of special episodes during which Bradley died tragically and Stacey revealed that she killed Archie Mitchell.
Simon was invited to the Elstree Studios to share the excitement of the live broadcast with the cast and production team, and during the week leading up to the Anniversary he appeared on BBC Breakfast News to talk about the "secret of writing a hit TV theme". He was asked by interviewer Tim Muffett to compose an impromptu theme for the Breakfast Show which went down well with the viewers.

The team have just finished recording radio jingles for Hugh Brown who presents his Sunday ‘Golden Brown’ show on Radio Borders.
First broadcast of the jingles is Sunday 28th March, when Simon will be chatting to Hugh live on air.

On the 14th May, Simon was interviewed by Carrie Grant on the One Show discussing (yes you’ve got it) the art of composing TV Themes.

Simon also joined Steve Wright In The Afternoon for a chat on Radio 2 as well as being interviewed during the week by 18 local radio stations!
On 30th July Simon joined Evan Davis and John Humphries for a discussion with Stephen Price (former Controller at BBC and ITV) about the demise of the TV theme since its heyday in the eighties.
Simon managed to air his favourite bête noire which is the squeezing and v/o interruption of end titles credits by broadcaster's presentation !
At the end of the show John Humphries challenged Simon to write a new theme for the 'Today' programme. (see September 2010 follow-up)

After completion of 'The Simon May' Collection CD, Simon, Simon and John wrote and produced the Theme for ‘Today' programme which John Humphries challenged Simon to write in July's 'Today' interview. John wanted the theme in five minutes. These things do take a little longer!

Bryan Kirkwood the Executive Producer of EastEnders has commissioned Simon and the Team to create a special piece of music to be used in Barbara Windsor's last episode (broadcast in September).

Simon will be performing at the Devizes Corn Exchange on 22 september 2010 as part of the Devizes Carnival "Autum Gold Concert". Also in the line up are sixties legends Dozy Beaky Mick @ Titch. Other local performers "First Stages" who will be singing songs from Smike, also The Colette Casin Quintet and completing the line up Bruce Helen & the Strong Twins.
