EastEnders in minor key to accompany Pat's Exit - January 2012
Simon was commissioned by Executive Producer Bryan Kirkwood to compose and perform a new variation of Julia's Theme to accompany the final episode of Pat Evans played by actress Pam St Clement. The episode was screened on New Year's Day 2012 and received a very emotional feedback from the critics and viewers.
Pat's Theme features a piano and no other instruments. It was also used as the opening theme to a documentary show EastEnders: Farewell Pat that aired on BBC 1 on 2nd January.
This is the first time ever that the EastEnders Theme has been played in the minor key :(
'Kindness' debut album 'World You Need A Change Of Mind' includes one of the lead tracks 'Anyone Can Fall In Love'. - March 2012
Adam Bainbridge lead singer of new band Kindness has recorded a new and very original version of the EastEnders song 'Anyone Can Fall In Love'.
Metro March 19: “Anyone Can Fall In Love is a spaced-out ethereal warp of Anita Dobson's 1986 take on the EastEnders' theme tune, which might sound too tiresomely hiptser-ironic for words, but is actually as joyfully gorgeous as it is shamelessly uncool.”
Sunday Times March 25: "This is a remarkable electro-dub version of Anita's '86 hit 'Anyone Can Fall In Love'. A foundation-threatening bassline and a fantastic synth part team up for what must surely be the least likely underground smash of the year.”
